Dreams From the Grass Stage

by Harris Wheeler

setting

this meadow

the parting

among a landscape of flame

there's nothing else

not a fat falling drop of rain

These poems are small, but their desire can be stretched over vast green spaces. In Dreams from the Grass Stage, the expression of femininity is hyperbolic or not at all. Coming in and out of dreams, fantasy, and the corporeal, the lines are blurred between them. Through this book, meaning runs freely like a shadow in the dark. The reader is invited into a liminal meadow where “dreams don’t come true / they are true”. Infatuated with night, darkness, and pop music, this book may be enjoyed by readers of Alejandra Pizarnik, and listeners of Caroline Polachek.
